The rock garden is designed using only gravel and stones, expressing the natural landscape and, by extension, the spirit of Zen. Several large rocks are placed amidst many pebbles, which represent flowing water. However, the meaning of this garden is undefined, left entirely to the interpretation of the beholder.

Zen philosophy emphasizes is mindfulness, and thus the garden is an invitation for the beholder to be mindful.

Shoji

In traditional Japanese architecture, translucent windows called 'shoji,' made with wooden frames and Japanese paper, are arranged like frames to boldly embrace and accentuate the natural landscape.

The classical and beautiful composition of 'shoji' expresses harmony, rather than separation, between people and nature.
